Muffin Love

About:

Muffin Love is a pony-themed rhythm game made for the June /mlp/ Game Jam (Theme: Love) in which you satisfy a pony's love for muffins. The game takes inspiration from Rhythm Heaven Fever and a ponified animation, Rhythm is Magic - Remix Apple Apple Apple.

How to play:

Simply download the zip file, extract it and run the executable inside to launch the game. From there the controls are as follows:

• Arrow Keys: Menu Navigation
• Space/Enter: Menu Select
• Z/X or Left/Right Mouse Buttons: Nom/Deflect

The goal of the game is to eat muffins tossed at you (the pony) by pressing Z or Left Mouse Button at the proper time (aligned with the beat of the music and the visual cues). Parasprites will also be thrown at you and they must be deflected with X or Right Mouse Button.

Missing the timing of these inputs or mixing up the actions (e.g. Deflecting a muffin) will result in a miss, otherwise a successful hit will result in a Bad, Good or Perfect score depending on how accurate the hit was.

Development was done by Lemon Drop (myself), Art was done by Goodly, and Audio was done by Defense Mechanism. The game is written in Zig and uses raylib for window management, basic graphics and audio playback.

Currently while released for an initial version do be warned this project is still incomplete. Features which were skipped for the sake of the jam are as follows:

• Tutorial
• Sound Effects
• More polished Menus
• Background art
• Various Pony animation polish
• Settings (Volume, Keybindings, etc)

Additionally, there is one potential bug where audio may be slightly desynced when playing the game a second time or if the game is minimized. If this happens simply restart the application.

Hopefully some of these missing things will come in via updates in the future if I decide to continue development on it.
