Version 1 Released


With the June /mlp/ Game Jam now complete the first version of Muffin Love has been released. Currently the game is playable with a single song and playable character, but due to the deadline for submission various features had to be cut or scaled back a bit, but these may be added in future updates. Furthermore, there may be bugs since the game has not been thoroughly tested on various platforms.

List of things to improve/add:

  • MacOS Build
  • Tutorial
  • Sound Effects
  • More polished Menus (Results screen mainly)
  • Pause Menu
  • Settings Menu (Volume, Keybindings, VSync, etc)
  • Background art
  • Various Pony animation polish
  • More Ponies
  • Additional Songs
  • Better input sampling (Currently input is sampled based on visual framerate)

Known issues/bugs:

  • Audio/Visual desync, this can happen in a variety of ways due to how the game time is tracked (currently minimizing the game while running does this, or large lagspikes). Hopefully will be fixed by a better audio time sync system.
  • Linux build may not work on all Linux machines due to dynamically linked glibc. This can be fixed by static linking, but some tweaks to how raylib is currently being used are needed to get it to work.
  • Visible console when launching on Windows. This is due to making the program fairly platform-agnostic (not using WinMain for instance), unsure if this will be fixed (at the very least the console can be hidden when running on Windows, even if not properly launching as a Windows application).
