Cold Steel

About:

Cold Steel is a top down shoot-em-up written in Zig and made for the Zero Sugar Added Jam: WASM-4 Edition with the theme "Full Steam Ahead".

This game is currently incomplete and missing various features which did not make it in the 7 day time limit of the game jam. Such missing features include:

• Various missing visuals (No train tracks or scenery)
• Few visual effects (No particles and other things)
• No sound effects
• Unpolished UI
• No "end" state for the game and limited gameplay

Keep this in mind before playing. Updates may come in the future to address some of these issues.

How to play:

The year is 2043: The Second Steam Age. The world has been devastated by nuclear warfare leaving the land cold and inhospitable due to a long-lasting nuclear winter and  monstrous mutated creatures which now roam free. The primary means of connectivity between settlements are steam powered trains which must be heavily armed to defend against threats.

Your goal is to defend one such cargo train using a turret mounted to the top of one of the train cars. Aiming can be done with the mouse, and holding the left mouse button will fire.

Make sure to conserve health and ammo (on the top left and right of the screen respectively) as you will only be able to replenish them upon arriving at stations along the track. Once at a station currency is earned for delivering cargo which can be used on repairs or resupply. Afterwards you may also chose which track to go down as some stations may offer multiple paths.
